A Story Video

This story video is created to teach Pre-Intemediate students how to use Past Simple and Past Continuous Tense. For my classroom purpose, I will play this video for my students and ask them to watch and take note the events happen in this story. Then some questions will be asked to check their comprehension level. Additionally, True/False statements are displayed on the board and students have to work individually to decide each statement before they are asked to discuss with their friends about their own answers by giving some explanation from the video. To assist them to check their answers, the video will be replayed for them to check.

The next activity, students are asked to highlight the tenses used in the story. Then I will ask for the volunteer to write down their answers on the board. Next, the students have to make up the rules of using Past Simple and Past Continuous Tense for the class under my facilitation.

To help them practice using the tenses, they are put into group to create the story. They are encouraged to use story video, but it is not a MUST if they feel that they cannot. They can use story cards or role play for their stories. Enough time will be given to students to prepare their story before they are ask to share with the class.

Law on Copyright in Cambodia

The law on copyright was enacted in 2003, and it was updated and republished in 2012. Although the law has be effect for several years, it is untested. However, it is can be served as a guideline for every individual to consider while thinking or talking about law of property rights and/or copyright. Additionally, the individual should consult the text of law itself before relying on this guide for legal advise.

What I cannot find about this law is the Fair Use for Educators. The law on Fair Use for Educators should be made in this country. With this law, More room is created for educators to develop their daily works like imparting knowledge, researching, publishing the teaching materials and so on and so forth for their personal use, but not in the purposes of making personal money.

Who I Am

"Sharing Skills, Improving Careers"

"Teaching is Researching with Fun"

Dear Everyone:

I am Soeung Sopha. I am working in National Institution of Education (NIE), known as the best teacher training collage in Cambodia.

I have been working in teaching career for about 20 years. I first started working as a primary teacher in 1995. Then I passed a selection exam to be a lower secondary teacher in 2001 after a two year training. After several years of working at lower secondary level with my bachelor's degree in English in 2006, I passed another national selection exam to be an upper secondary teacher. Thus, I started working as a teacher of English in 2007. My majors are Education psychology and English Language. To upgrading my profession, I joined the training in Georgia State University on how to teach foreign language in  early 2010. At the same year in August, I was funded by Japanese government via Japanese Development Scholarship for my Master's Degree in Educational Research and Development. Also, I joined a 11-week Brunei-US English Enrichment Project.

I work as a lecturer in the faculty of Education at Panhasastra University of Cambodia. I teach some subjects - introduction to teaching methodology and  Basic educational research.  Also, I work as a manager of Adult English Program at the Westline Education Group Co. Ltd . My responsibilities in this position are to develop study curriculum, syllabus and teaching materials, to train teachers, to recruit both local and foreign teachers for the program.

I really love learning new things and sharing ideas and knowledge. Therefore this page is created.

Some words:

Classroom is the Community of Learning, where teacher is viewed as a navigator of learning process while students are playing a role of the leader for the success.
Teacher can make all professions possible.
Teacher is an agent of change.
If you wish your country to be democracy, you have to teach your class democratically.
Achievement is not the grade (A, B, C, D or F), but it is defined as what your students can do after your class and/or after they graduate.
Starting your class with high motivation, and ending it with an inspiring legacy.
If you come to class with nothing new for your students, just stay home to watch some news to kill your time.
If you cannot be the best educator, you have to be the teacher in the eyes of your learners.

"Teachers" have to be Tolerant, Enthusiastic, Academic, Confident, having sense of Humour, Encouraging and Reliable persons and be a Scholar.
